Beautiful people, the best of us. Our heros ❤️

This site is a tribute to Nathaniel Mathews and Lisa Connerty (RIEP). Nathaniel died on the 11 April 2022 and Lisa died on the 02 July 2022.

Lisa and Nat met at Oxford University while studying English Literature, they became soul mates and eventually civil partners. They were together, in life and in love for almost 35 years and now they are together in death.

Nathaniel was a Civil Partner, Step Father, Son, Brother, friend, colleague and so much more to so many. Hero, protector, role model. Kind and beautiful. Brilliant but humble xxx

Lisa was a Civil Partner, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was beautiful, warm, charismatic, intelligent, a mother figure to so many, lovely company, hilarious, hard working.

The loss is so great but so is love they gave.

A celebration of Lisa Connerty’s life

Funeral service is at South London Crematorium on Monday 01 August at 11am

We are planning on placing a plaque in Streatham Common Rookery, next to Nats, for Lisa. The family are planning to pay for this ourselves. In honour of Lisa, we are asking for donations to be made to Diabetes UK or the British Heart foundation. Funds have been raised for Nat and a memorial plaque in now in Streatham Common (the photo is in the gallery) and soon there will be a bench in Hackney.

Johnny Cash - Man in black Well, you wonder why I always dress in black Why you never see bright colors on my back And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town I wear it for the prisoner who is long paid for his crime But is there because he's a victim of the times I wear the black for those who've never read Or listened to the words that Jesus said About the road to happiness through love and charity Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back Up front there ought to be a Man In Black I wear it for the sick and lonely old For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been Each week we lose a hundred fine young men And I wear it for the thousands who have died Believin' that the Lord was on their side I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died Believin' that we all were on their side Well, there's things that never will be right I know And things need changin' everywhere you go But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right You'll never see me wear a suit of white Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day And tell the world that everything's okay But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Into my arms I don't believe in an interventionist God But I know, darling, that you do But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him Not to intervene when it came to you Not to touch a hair on your head To leave you as you are And if He felt He had to direct you Then direct you into my arms Into my arms, O Lord Into my arms, O Lord Into my arms, O Lord Into my arms And I don't believe in the existence of angels But looking at you I wonder if that's true But if I did I would summon them together And ask them to watch over you To each burn a candle for you To make bright and clear your path And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love And guide you into my arms Into my arms, O Lord Into my arms, O Lord Into my arms, O Lord Into my arms And I believe in Love And I know that you do too And I believe in some kind of path That we can walk down, me and you So keep your candlew burning And make her journey bright and pure That she will keep returning Always and evermore Into my arms, O Lord Into my arms, O Lord Into my arms, O Lord Into my arms

Heroes by David Bowie I, I will be king And you, you will be queen Though nothing will drive them away We can beat them, just for one day We can be heroes, just for one day And you, you can be mean And I, I'll drink all the time 'Cause we're lovers, and that is a fact Yes we're lovers, and that is that Though nothing will keep us together We could steal time just for one day We can be heroes for ever and ever What d'you say? I, I wish you could swim Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim Though nothing, nothing will keep us together We can beat them, for ever and ever Oh we can be Heroes, just for one day I, I will be king And you, you will be queen Though nothing will drive them away We can be Heroes, just for one day We can be us, just for one day I, I can remember (I remember) Standing, by the wall (by the wall) And the guns, shot above our heads (over our heads) And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall) And the shame, was on the other side Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever Then we could be Heroes, just for one day We can be Heroes We can be Heroes We can be Heroes Just for one day We can be Heroes We're nothing, and nothing will help us Maybe we're lying, then you better not stay But we could be safer, just for one day Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-oh-ohh, just for one day
